Homespun

Warm & Natural

Fiberfill

1/2” black buttons

Barn Red embroidery floss

Black embroidery floss

Barn Red acrylic paint or powder blush

Instant tea

Rusty tin wire

Stiffener or Mod Podge

Instructions:

Trace head onto doubled muslin. Sew all the way around and slit in back through

one layer for turning. Turn RSO. Stuff firmly and whipstitch opening closed.

With a disappearing marker, mark where your nose and mouth will be.

The nose is made with 6 strand Barn Red embroidery floss. Anchor the floss in

back close to previous stitching. Bring needle out through the front of the face

on the bottom left hand side of nose, and work back and forth on your

marked lines until you get to the top, then anchor the floss again in the back.

Sew the buttons (eyes) on with 6 strand Black embroidery floss, tying and knotting

the ends of the floss in the back of the head, close to all of the other stitching.

The mouth and eyelashes are made with 1 strand of Black embroidery floss.

You should not need to take the needle to the back of the head after

each lash, keep all the stitching up front till the end, just below the surface.

When finished with lashes and mouth anchor the stitching in back.

Blush the cheeks with whichever method you prefer. Powder blush or Barn Red

acrylic paint and a stencil brush, using a dry brush method.

The hair is 6 strands of Barn red embroidery floss, see help section for how

to sew on to head, and pattern piece for placement.

Trace wings onto doubled Homespun, with a layer of Warm & Natural underneath.

Sew all the way around, and cut a slit through one layer only for turning. Turn RSO

and iron carefully, not to hot, or the Warm & Natural will shrivel.

Tea stain both the head and wings separately and stiffen the wings

with a stiffener or Mod Podge if desired. Let dry.

Glue the head to the wings, but first add a piece of rusty tin wire for hanging, about

an inch or two long and folded in half, tucked right in between head and wings.

You do not want a long string or piece of wire on your Ornie, it will not hang right.

So there you go , that should be it, I hope you had fun making her.
